Valle del Lozoya

The Lozoya valley seems to have come out of the imagination of a painter. His paintings reflect an undulating green landscape. The mountaintops are high without steep slopes. The farms are separated by stone walls and natural hedges that allow plots of different sizes and colors, between the rolling hills and mountains of the valley is the Lozoya River, the true water source of the capital city of Madrid.

El Cuadron, Garganta de los Montes, Canencia, Lozoya, Pinilla del Valle, Alameda del Valle, Oteruelo del Valle and Rascafría are the towns that make up the region. The houses are usually large and made of stone, with a pitched roof. Among them we can be attracted to Villa de Rascafría, Lozoya or Garganta de los Montes, beautiful localities of the valley of Lozoya.

In a visit to the valley of Lozoya, you should not miss the opportunity to try the delicious meat with Protected Geographical Indication Beef from the Guadarrama Mountains, either veal or yearling calves. The true star of the menu of all restaurants in the area, it is almost mandatory to have it roasted in a wood oven. Also grilled or seasoned with some of the herbs that grow in the valley, for example, thyme.

However, each restaurant has its own specialities worth ordering. An advise, leave room for dessert, they are all homemade and delicious. For more information about the serrana gastronomy click here.

Within walking distance of the reservoirs in the Lozoya River, in summer you can enjoy a variety of water activities: canoeing, kayaking, windsurfing….

We invite you to visit some of the most interesting tourist sites in the area:
